Kids will enjoy this half-hour Sesame Street video, in which the whole gang takes a piano up to the roof and sings some of their favorite songs. But they are frequently interrupted by workmen Biff and Sully, who keep tuning in songs on their TV (only to knock the antenna out of whack). The blend of people and puppets is charming, and the bits culled from the T… More >>

  1. I like this tape a lot, even though it’s dated (by Maria’s big ’80s hair!). Most of the singing takes place when the Sesame Street gang and a group of kids drag a piano up to the roof to have a sing-along with Bob and Big Bird. Workmen Biff and Sully just happen to be up there “fixing” a TV, where you get to see some terrific non-rooftop spots including Grover and the late great Madeline Kahn singing “Sing After Me,” a sign-language enhanced “Sing,” “We All Sing With The Same Voice,” and “Doin the Pidgeon”

Maria, Gordon, Bob, Big Bird, Hoots the Owl and the kids all sing “John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt,” “Old MacDonald Had A Farm,”"Stand Up and Pinch Your Nose,” the Alphabet song, a cute upbeat number by Big Bird called “Cheer Up” and, for a grand finale, my ultimate favorite Sesame Street song, “What’s The Name Of That Song.”

The production values in this tape are very simple – but the focus is on the characters and their voices. Everybody gets to be who they are. I recommend this one to anybody who likes the people on Sesame Street as well as the muppets.

P.S. The video cover is a little misleading: Ernie and Bert aren’t part of the sing-along: they appear separately in “Doin the Pigeon” and “Rubber Ducky.” A bit of trivia – this tape started its life as a Sesame Street episode.

This video is our savior! Our 16 month old daughter never tires of it, and it keeps her totally enraptured for a full half hour! The songs are classic and engaging, and the premise is cute too. A definite must.

My son has watched this tape in its entirety since he was 6mos old – - and at 13mos, he still can’t get enough of it (he’s actually watching it right now). A lifesaver for a busy Mom that needs 30 minutes to start dinner, etc….and a great way to expose young children to music. My son dances through the whole video. A must-have tape!!

My 13 month old niece absolutely LOVES this video. She sits on my lap and does not move her eyes from the tv for one moment. This is the only video that she will sit and watch without getting up. I HIGHLY recommend it!

  5. I received this as a VHS and have to have the DVD because I’m sure we’ll wear this one out. I love the song by grover and Madeline Kahn, absolutely delightful. Good sing along and wonderful tunes. My 21 month old son loves it and I don’t mind having it on in the house. Have no reservations in buying this, it is bound to last a lifetime!
